Last month, I put together a "February Survival Guide" because let's face it...February is the absolute worst. Sorry February. March, which holds the bragging rights to the first day of Spring, typically brings some welcome relief. The sun appears again, birds begin chirping, spirits are renewed, and those winter coats (hopefully) get moved to the back of the closet. With all this newfound energy, most of us are ready to get back out into the world once again! To help with the adjustment from hibernation to civilization, I am sharing some of my "Must-Dos for March." While this list is specific to Pittsburgh, I encourage everyone to get out and explore your own hometowns. It's amazing to me the entertainment options you can find in your own backyard. I would love to hear how you plan to ring in Spring 2015 this month!
1. Get Social!
There are a couple of great networking and fundraising events being hosted in March.
The 4th Annual Bitches Ball raises funds for one of my absolute favorite causes, the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center. Voted Best Local Fundraiser in City Paper's Best of Pittsburgh issue, this year's event will be held at the Pittsburgh Opera House on March 4th. Enjoy drinks, giveaways, and a drag competition with celebrity judges.
In it's 17th year, History Uncorked, one of the city's most popular networking events for young professionals, will take place March 6th at the Heinz History Center. Network with your peers, explore the History Center's exhibits, and enjoy food, drinks, and live entertainment throughout the night.
The Great Gathering at Southpointe, hosted by the Pittsburgh Social Exchange, will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Canonsburg on March 18th. Get your business cards ready! This is an opportunity to mix and mingle with more than 800 other guests!
2. Catch a Show!
Pittsburgh's Cultural District is one of my favorite places in the city. There are so many great restaurants and amazing new shows come to the theaters each month.
Singin in the Rain - Heinz Hall - March 13 - 15th - I saw this when it came to the city last year and absolutely loved it! Great singing and dancing!
Mel Brook's Young Frankenstein - Byham Theater - March 5 - 15th - This new musical comedy is from the creators of the hit Broadway show, the Producers.
Boeing Boeing - CLO Cabaret - now thru April 26th - Tony Award-winning comedy now in Pittsburgh!
3. Think Spring!
Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show - Convention Center Downtown - March 6 - 15th - This annual home show boasts over 10 acres of exhibits! Now is the time to get your home ready for all those summer barbeques!
Spring Flower Show - Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens - March 14 - April 12th - Nothing says "Spring" more than beautiful flowers in full bloom! This annual exhibit is sure to have you feeling cheery and rejuvenated in no time! Also, check out the Party in the Tropics on March 6th!
