I'm back at the blog - which means I'm back to sharing my Friday Favorites! I've rounded up some goodies this week!
1. Favorite Summer Dress Trend!
Ladies, I am loving the floral maxi dress trend! It totally reminds me of the 90s, but I am ok with that! I just bought this one to wear to my friend's rehearsal dinner! I've linked some other faves below! AND I think all but one are under $100!
2. Favorite Way to Cook!
Anyone that knows me knows I do not like to cook. There I said it. However, unless I want to spend a ton of money and calories eating out every night, I know it’s important to have a few home-cooked meals during the week. I saw a few different recipes recently for “one pan meals” – and I must say I’m in love with the concept. Much like the glorious invention of the slow cooker, one pan meals allow you to throw all your items onto a pan and into the oven. Not much prep or fuss. You can walk away and come back 30 minutes later to a hot dinner. I tried this one from Damn Delicious (LOVE this site for recipes) and there are some great options on Domino.com.
3. Favorite New IKEA Hacks!
We’ve all seen articles featuring IKEA hacks – ways to use your good old IKEA staples in new and unique ways. I stumbled upon one of my favorites recently when I was searching for herb garden ideas on Pinterest. Some DIY genius took the IKEA VURM wine rack (only $12.99) and flipped it horizontally to use as an herb holder! Full tutorial - here. Seriously, how do people come up with these things? There are some other awesome IKEA hacks here – I LOVE the fur-covered vanity stool AND the faux marble desktop (bloggers take note if you want to create photos with that “marble” back drop, but don’t have a marble table in your house).
4. Favorite Way to do Pizza at Home!
Oh my gosh! I don’t like cooking and here I am talking about recipe ideas again! However, I love the idea of making pita pizzas. 1. Because it’s pizza duh. 2. It’s way healthier than ordering a pizza. 3. It reminds me of when I was little and Pizza Hut would do the Book-It reading program and you would get a free personal pan pizza. Anyone my age that remembers this? Anyone? Anyways, I followed this recipe from Eat Yourself Skinny. She includes the recipe for a really simple and tasty homemade sauce. However, if you are really crunched for time, you can always just use store bought pizza or pasta sauce! My secret ingredient? Sprinkle some grated parmesan on top once you take it out of the oven!
5. Favorite Herb Garden Ideas!
I just moved into a new house and the majority of my things are still in boxes. I know no one really likes packing or unpacking, but I take it to a whole new level. So instead of spending the weekend sorting through boxes and bags, I decided to head outside and plant some flowers and herbs – so at least the outside of my new place is looking summer-ready! I went to the most dangerous place on the Internet, Pinterest, to search for some herb garden ideas. I saw so many creative ones (like the one rack above), I figured I would share a few! Don’t forget the most important step though – make sure your container has drainage holes. I made this mistake last year and used a container without holes. The first rain came and all of my herbs were floating. I actually bought a galvanized tub at IKEA and drilled my own holes in the bottom!
6. Favorite Performer / Concert!
All my Beyonce dreams and fantasies came true on Tuesday!! I can't put it into words, so I won't bother.
