When you live in Pittsburgh and your friends ask you to tag along on their trip to California in the middle of January, you pack your bags as fast as humanly possible and hop on a plane! The main reason for the trip was that one of my friends would be running three races (yes three - a 5K, a 10k, and a half-marathon) over the course of three days in Disneyland. I opted to catch up on some much needed sleep in the mornings (though I did hit the hotel gym one day and ran 3 miles on the treadmill - that counts for something right? right?). We stayed for a couple of days in Anaheim, basking in everything the laid-back surfer towns have to offer (sushi happy hour? - ummm best idea ever). We then rented a car and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway from Anaheim to San Francisco. The drive was truly like a scene from a movie - driving on the edge of a mountain with nothing but ocean to one side and a glorious sunset as our compass. Not even the most beautiful photo comes close to emulating the breath-taking views along that highway. We then spent our last few days in San Francisco - being total tourists. I had never been to the city, so we had dinner at Fisherman's Wharf, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, and watched the cars twist and turn down Lombard Street. I will be sharing photos of our sight-seeing adventures this month, so be sure to stop back!
The photos below were taken in front of a great little hotel we passed one morning walking to breakfast in Anaheim. I loved the look of the dark shutters against the light stucco walls. The whole place felt very Mediterranean. I instantly knew I had to come back and take a few photos! The outfit (minus the shoes and sunglasses) is all H&M. I love shopping there because you can go in and walk out with a totally on trend outfit and not go broke doing it. I thought about pairing the printed blouse with a black jacket, but I love how the off-white blazer feels so much cleaner and airier. We did a lot of walking, so flats it was! I love the pointed toe and gold-detailing on this pair! And of course a so-Cal look is not complete without a great pair of sunglasses. I swear I have had this Michael Kors pair for at least three years, but I love them so much that I can't part from them!
