When I say I love animals, I mean the kind of love that borders on obsession with anything covered in fur with paws and a tail. So when I had the opportunity to be involved in organizing a fundraising event for the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center of Pittsburgh, I was beyond excited! My friend works for Sephora and told me about the company's 'Values Inside Out' program which matches individual Sephora stores with local non-profits. Each store is able to choose a charity and then assist throughout the year with fundraising, spreading awareness of the cause, and volunteering.
We decided to hold a small fundraising event inside a local Sephora store - complete with a ring master, popcorn, cotton candy, and of course adorable adoptable kitties. We held a raffle style auction with items donated from local restaurants, salons, and obviously a ton of Sephora swag! We were also lucky enough to get Drew Talbot, a finalist on season seven of Syfy's "Face Off," to come into the store for an artistry make-up demonstration, turning one beautiful lady into a not so bad looking bearded lady! At the end of the day, we raised funds for a great cause, all three of our kitties went to new forever homes, animal welfare was promoted, and awareness grew! Below are just a few of the shots from the day. I also included some great products to help bring your own 'Under the Big Top' themed party together!
Pulling together your own circus-themed party is actually quite simple! Snacks can be low cost - think popcorn, peanuts in cute little bags, animal crackers, cotton candy, and drinks served in old-fashioned milk bottles with striped straws. For favors, pass out clown noses, party horns, and fake mustaches! Striped linens, gum ball machines, and circus flags are simple decor touches that add pops of color and whimsy!
