Last month, I had the pleasure of assisting two wonderful clients, Dana and Matt, as they planned their October wedding. These two were my kind of bride and groom as they weren’t hung up on all the traditional “rules” that accompany a wedding ceremony. Instead, they intended to think outside the box, opting to hold both the ceremony and reception at Cavo in the Strip District rather than a more traditional wedding venue. Their goal from the beginning was simple: create a unique and relaxed environment where guests could mix, mingle, and dance the night away! We used several unique design items to create a laid-back, vintage lounge feel. High candelabras lined the bars and vintage cigar boxes were filled with homemade chocolates. Old family photos were displayed throughout the venue. The dimly lit rooms overflowed with warm candlelight. Not sure if it added to the theme, but I loved the idea of using large Jenga pieces as the guest book! Leah and her team at Cavo were beyond great to work with! This team hosted four events that weekend and were somehow still high energy for our Sunday wedding. I can’t say enough good things about the Cavo staff!
Thank you also to Lauren Pearlman Photography for sharing her photos with me!
We set chairs up in a round formation for the ceremony, which I highly recommend to anyone looking to really create an intimate space. What could be more romantic than a dimly lit room filled with candles, scattered rose petals, and a waterfall backdrop!
Cavo has so many unique features that we were able to take advantage of. One of my favorite pieces was utilizing the large projection screens to stream photos of the couple’s parents and grandparents on their wedding days. I am a sucker for old family photos and this was the perfect way to display them.
I loved the couple’s idea for wedding favors. They brought in craft beer (and root beer) and cute little cardboard bottle holders. Guests could select their favorites as they left at the end of the night.
The groom’s sister gifted the couple with a beautiful wedding cake as well as a wonderful assortment of cupcakes.
Again, we were able to use the unique décor and lounge areas at Cavo to create intimate seating areas for guests to mingle, sip cocktails, and munch on late-night snacks.
